- What is the VariFlight AI Open Platform?
- The VariFlight AI Open Platform (ai.variflight.com) is the aviation and travel data service that VariFlight (飞常准) provides for AI agent developers. It offers two remote servers built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Aviation MCP and Tripmatch MCP, covering flight status, connecting itineraries, airfares, flight comfort, live aircraft positions, airport weather and China rail tickets.
- What is the difference between Aviation MCP and Tripmatch MCP?
- Aviation MCP focuses on air travel, with 9 tools for flight status, connecting flights, comfort, live aircraft position, airport weather and airfares. Tripmatch MCP targets mid- and long-distance intercity travel: on top of flight data it adds train schedules and seat availability, station search and air-rail transfer plans, with 9 tools. Both servers use the same account and API key.
- Which AI clients are supported?
- Any MCP-compatible client or agent framework, including Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code), Codex CLI, Cursor, and agents built on the official MCP SDKs. The remote servers use streamable HTTP; clients without remote HTTP support can run the npm packages @variflight-ai/variflight-mcp or @variflight-ai/tripmatch-mcp locally over stdio.
- How much does it cost? Are there free credits?
- Billing is per tool call in credits (1 credit is ¥0.01 CNY), at 5–50 credits per call. Protocol calls such as initialize and tools/list, and the getTodayDate tool, are free, and failed calls are not charged. New accounts receive ¥50 in trial credits; top-ups support Alipay and international cards via Stripe.
- How do I connect Aviation MCP or Tripmatch MCP?
- Create an API key in the console, add the endpoint https://ai.variflight.com/servers/aviation/mcp or https://ai.variflight.com/servers/tripmatch/mcp to your MCP client, and send the key in the X-API-Key header. Clients that support OAuth 2.1 can add the endpoint URL directly and sign in to the platform when prompted.
- What data coverage does it offer?
- Flight data covers 99.99% of Chinese domestic flights and about 97% of international flights; airfares cover all Chinese domestic airlines and cabin classes; rail data includes train schedules, seat availability and fares.
